President Thaci made these comments during the solemn ceremony organised by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the International Against Trafficking in Human Beings Day.
Kosovo as a new state has managed to create legal infrastructure that helps combat human trafficking and rehabilitation of victims. We have to work every day to ensure well-being for our citizens, so that there is no chance of developing this negative and dangerous phenomenon for society”, Thaci said.
He added that it should prevent Kosovo from being used as a way for traffickers.
“We must co-operate with all neighbours and the European Union for preventing the exploitation of Kosovo as the way for traffickers. Kosovo has made progress in all these areas, a review of the Criminal Code has been made, the judiciary has reduced the number of remaining cases, but the Supreme Court has also adopted new guidelines for penalties...”, Thaci said.
The president finally called on all institutions responsible to be in charge and to fight any negative phenomena in our society.
