This increase is compared to 1,698 high daily cases at the end of June. The agency said the peak during the spring was probably much higher, but there was insufficient testing.
The official death toll in this country has dropped by 15 cases since Friday, with a total of 5,918 people dead, reports theocal.
No explanation was given for this reduction, but the death toll was changed earlier after the actual cause of death was determined.
The rate of per capita mortality in Sweden is several times higher than in its Nordic neighbours, but lower than in some major European countries, such as Spain and the United Kingdom.
