Because the study began in India, scholars chose five aromas often found in Indian families.
They found that people who had difficulty smelling mints and coconut oil were more likely to produce a positive coronavirus later.
In all, the research team examined 25 aromas and chose five for use in experimenting, aromas that participants used most: coconut oil, cardamom, copper, mint, and garlic.
Similarly, the largest number of patients were unable to fully smell coconut oil and the scent of mint leaves.
