Snowden, a former contractor with the National Security Agency (NSA), has been living in Russia since 2013 to flee criminal persecution in the United States after having issued classified documents detailing government surveillance programmes.
“Today, Snowden has been given permission to stay for an indefinite period of time,” has said his lawyer, Anadolu Kucherena, follows Periscope.
Kucherena told the Interfax news agency that the application was made in April, but because of the body of coronary and restrictive measures, it took more time for immigration authorities to examine it.
He said Snowden wasn't meant to apply for Russian citizenship right now.
On the other hand, Snowden said he was willing to return to the United States if he guaranteed a correct court process. /Periscope
