The director of the National Organisation for Disaster Management, Richard Amo Yartey, reported that the 6-story church has collapsed in the Manso Acropolis area, leaving 21 people dead so far.
Director Yartey said they found the bodies of 18 people, where 8 of them were rescued, writes Gulftoday, broadcast the Express newspaper.
“The Church of Happiness” collapsed in the town of Akyem Batabi shortly after worshipers had completed a ritual prayer.
One survivor told local media that about 60 people were inside the building when it collapsed.
The causes of the accident were still unknown, but the church founder, priest Isaac Ofor, widely known as Akoa Isaac, is helping police investigate this collapse.
It is claimed that there were 60 persons performing the ritual of prayers when the church collapsed, but it is still not known exactly how many have lost their lives and how many have been saved.
