The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore of the Republic of Kosovo (MPJD) reports that Serbia has released Agim Gjagaj, and seeks the immediate release of Nezir Mehmetaj.
Jokaj was arrested about two weeks ago flagrantly during his transit journey across Serbia's territory, while the other Kosovo citizen, Nezir Mehmetaj, continues to be held unjustly in custody now for ten months.
MPJD calls for once and for all to stop such an illegal practice, of the groundless ban of Kosovo citizens who pass the transit on Serbia's territory.
Such behaviour is contrary to basic human rights, the free movement agreement reached in Brussels in 2011, and in full opposition to the spirit of Washington's Economic Normalisation pledge agreement.
These actions are in the wake of Serbia's efforts to sabotage the Republic of Kosovo, issue false arrest orders and manipulate their media channels through continued racist propaganda.
Therefore, given these circumstances, the MPJD repeated calls that citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and fellow countrymen from the diaspora avoid travel to and through Serbia because of the risk of their ban, on politically motivated charges.
