Serbia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it has called Albania's ambassador to Belgrade, Ilir Boca, on Wednesday to deliver a protest note regarding statements made during the meeting of both Kosovo and Albania on October 2nd in Tirana, to remove the border between the latter two.

The “Declarations, which include the unification of Albania and Kosovo and the establishment of a Greater Albania, present an justified reason for concern, both for the Republic of Serbia and for other countries in the region committed to preserving stability and intensifying co-operation in the region”, the Serbian Foreign Ministry statement said.

It says that the protest note points to daily efforts made by senior Serbian officials for the development of bilateral political relations, and others, with all neighbouring countries, with the aim of bringing about attitudes for which they have no reconciliation, and in that spirit, they expect Albania's top officials to refrain from future statements that undermine bilateral reports between Serbia and Albania.

Diplomatic reports between Albania and Serbia have escalated recently. The Serbian Foreign Ministry's move follows that of Albania's Foreign Ministry, which on Tuesday has summoned Serbian Ambassador to Tirana to forward Serbia with a protest note, following Serbian Defence Minister Aleksandar Voulin's statements.

Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama has said that “will not be tolerated any offense from representatives of the Serbian government”.

“Albania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has continued further with the process, Serbia's ambassador has been summoned or will be called, to be made by verbal marks aware of the Serbian state that no loose mouth in Serbia's Government can hurt Albania's Government, or the image of a Albanian minister or prime minister,”, Rama said.

On the other hand, Serbia's Foreign Ministry confirmed that the Serbian ambassador to Tirana has been invited by the Albanian Foreign Ministry, but he has refused to accept the protest note because of the unacceptable positions expressed in it.

The Serbian minister commented a few days ago on Prime Minister Edi Rama's statement at the joint conference held with Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti, following the collection of two governments -- that of Kosovo and Albania.

The Albanian prime minister said at the conference that the port of Durres will be the “de facto” Kosovo port. Minister Volin, after this statement, had said that Rama is working on creating “Greater Albania”.

“Claiming that the Durres Port will be Kosovo's, Edi Rama continues to work on the creation of the Great Albania”, he had said Vulin calling on the EU to react because such a thing is a threat to peace.

Through a second statement, the Serbian Defence Minister said Albania's prime minister would be remembered more for “the stolen socks” than for the development of brilliant ideas and that Rama does not have “enough”.

If Edi Rama had a brain, she wouldn't have tried to do the Great Albania. If he had known, he wouldn't have taken a background photo from the flag of the Great Albania. If he cared for peace in the region, he would not praise the KLA killers”, Voulin had said.

Prime Minister Rama responded to these statements, said he expects Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, to apologise on behalf of Serbia's state.
