UN Security Council discusses Kosovo

The UN Security Council will currently review the six-month report on the work of the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). In a report published on the UN website, Secretary General Antonio Guterres welcomed the resumption of EU-brokered dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, after a long pause and urged both sides to show flexibility and creativity in efforts to overcome differences.

Guterres welcomed Kosovo's leadership's commitment to fighting pandemic, advancing dialogue with Belgrade and European integration, and called on the new Kosovo government to continue strengthening the rule of law, supporting processes of responsibility for serious human rights violations and taking decisive steps to fight corruption and impunity, Beta reports, Klen Kosova broadcasts.

The chief of the UN called on Kosovo institutions and international acts to ensure full support and co-operation in the Special Court's efforts, since this is <x0); will remain essential for Kosovo's peaceful future”.

The report includes the period from March 16th to September 15, 2020.
