Russian Ambassador to Serbia talks about Association: We would accept a solution that would satisfy Serbs

Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko has said his country's position in resolving the Kosovo issue is unchanged and based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244. “We will pay particular attention to the situation regarding Kosovo as part of Serbia and talks on [...]
“We will give special attention to the situation regarding Kosovo as part of Serbia and talks on future reciprocal relations between Belgrade and Pristina can only be delivered with respect to international law, legitimate interests and concerns of Kosovo Serbs,” he wrote in a authorial writing to “Napredak” , SNS magazine for theory and political practice, says Vecernje Novosti.
According to him, the parties themselves must agree and it is counterproductive to force final normalisation, and as he said to impose recipes and pre-prepared time frames.
He also said that “Russia is committed to developing co-operation in a wide range of directions” and that “dialogic political at the highest level gives it substantial importance”.
“We are off from the promise that the EU, which was authorised by the UN General Assembly to mediate in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, should fulfil its obligations impartially and effectively and try to implement previously reached agreements, which Kosovo Albanians are openly ignoring today. Forming the Association of Serbian municipalities and resolving issues related to refugees and internally displaced persons are of great importance”, he added.
According to the Russian diplomat in Belgrade, his country will support all efforts to help “Belgrade and Pristina achieve a firm, sustainable and mutually acceptable solution, and added that Russian President Vladimir Putin had repeatedly stressed that Russia would accept only a solution that would satisfy Serbs who defend their legal rights in Kosovo”.
