Steve Scolly, cable channel reporter C-SPAN, suspended indefinitely.
Scolly would moderate the debate scheduled for October 15th, but it has been cancelled, as organisers have turned it into virtual debate.
Organisers have described Trump's contagion with coronary infection as a concern, but Trump has refused to participate in the virtual debate.
Last week, Scully has been involved in a Twitter exchange with Anthony Saramucci, former Trump aider, now critical of him.
Scully seemed to have sought his advice.
When the exchange has sparked controversy, Sculley said his account has been avenged.
In a statement of apology, Sculley said he has disappointed his colleagues. I apologize to them”, he said.
“We were greatly depressed by this news and did not forgive its” actions, the C-SPAN channel said through a statement.
Sculley has covered the presidential election in C-SPAN for nearly 30 years and has created a reputation for balanced coverage.
It is unclear when he will return, but his suspension suggests he will be outside the programme on the night of the US presidential elections on November 3rd.
