Raka: The second wave of the Coronavirus we passed in August

The rise in corruption cases in Kosovo should not be a concern, since the slight growth of the infected has emerged as a result of increasing tests on a daily basis, microbiologist Lul Raka says. From October 12th to 23rd, 1,412 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Kosovo, while 12 people have died.

Kosovo is facing pandemic now eight months, while preventive measures such as wearing a mask, holding hands and keeping a distance are still in effect.

Kosovo's pandemic peak has reached July and August, until later the number of infected has gone by marking decline.

In the last two weeks in the country, a slight increase in the number of Coronavirus infected people has been found, causing COVID-19.

Even so, microbiologist Lul Raka said it should not be a concern for both authorities and the population, since the slight growth of the infected has resulted from increasing tests on daily grounds.

He says that the percentage of the infected is about 12.

There is a slight increase in the number of infected but stable. If compared to the last two weeks, in the last week there were 3,600 tests conducted, last week this number has increased to 6,300, and we had over 1,200 tests yesterday.

So, the slight growth of the infected should not cause panic, not in decision-makers or in the people, but should be viewed by important parameters such as increasing testing. Yesterday (October 22) has been 12 percent infected by the overall number of tested ones, the past two weeks have been about 10 percent, and there is no substantial increase. But that does not mean that there is no need to proceed with the precautionary measures, Raka said.

In Europe, however, the number of new cases has gone up to 100,000 each day. For the World Health Organization, the situation is of great concern.

The second wave of coronary has doubled new cases in the last ten days.

According to Reuters agency estimates, the region has passed 200,000 new cases in one day, for the first time on October 22nd.

The total number of infected people on the continent currently stands at 5.3 million, while the number of victims is close to 205,000.

Masks Helped Kosovo

But what has really affected the stabilisation of the situation with the corruption infection in Kosovo? Lulu Raka says that there are several factors until she mentions wearing the mask as the main weapon.

The factors that have influenced stability think there are many, but two key ones are the implementation of measures on the part of citizens especially from August, primarily masks, hand hygiene, but also the strengthening of inspection capacities. Although there is still enough room in this field to intervene.

Is Kosovo expecting a new wave of pandemic?

This wave is the new wave that connects to the autumn season, and I think the second wave we passed in July and August”, he says.

In the Ministry of Health, they say that despite inspections for respecting measures to control pandemic, the awareness of citizens is emerging on the level, taking into account the curbing of the infection.

Faik Hoti, spokesman at the ministry, indicated that testing people with symptoms, as well as contact cases, keeping distance, mask, will make the pandemic under control. He said that they already have more than 100,000 tests on stock available for Kosovo citizens.

What remains the main focus of health institutions is to reduce the death toll, as well as keep the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo and regional hospitals at as much as the lowest of the hospitals. This is possible with the correct delivery of the mask, remote storage”.

“Beyond institutions, each citizen becomes self-inspectorate in order to engage in control of the pandemic, when it is known that worldwide there are serious difficulties, Hoti said.

Citizens for New Normal

Gentiana Krasniqi, 29, citizen of Pristina, said the mask has already returned to normality and, given what WHO officials estimate, the mask should be kept until the discovery of vaccine worldwide, not just in Kosovo.

Hundreds of euros for treatment from COVID-19

I think citizens are particularly tired of putting on masks, although other measures I don't think are being strictly respected. But I think citizens are aware that they have to wear masks. In this respect the fight with COVIED-19 becomes easier if everyone makes it a culture to wear a mask, hand hygiene and keep distance, she said.

Nexmije Ahemti, 43, a citizen of Pristina, said he has carefully respected the measures recommended by the National Institute of Public Health, though he says he is already feeling tired of pandemic after a long time.

The putting on of a mask is a matter of fatigue, but since the health and non-proliferation of the virus, it certainly has to be respected so that we can cope with these difficulties in respecting measures”, she said.

Meanwhile, another citizen named Jehona says that although it has been a long time since he constantly wears his mask, the mask continues to be essential to maintaining each one's health.

It has been more than eight months since the beginning of the pandemic and, of course, a bit annoying to carry the mask for a long time, but knowing the risk of the virus is better to wear masks than to risk ourselves and our families, she said.

Otherwise, according to microbiologist Lull Raka, preventative measures will last until the discovery of the vaccine for COVID-19. Because of the results and research of vaccines worldwide, it has been said that the optimum period will be the end of the year.
