By lighting a thousand candles in Belgrade, several hundred citizens demanded by authorities in Serbia and Kosovo that urgently follow those who ordered and committed the murder of Serbian politician Oliver Ivanovic.
The rally was held in front of St. Mark's Church, at the invitation of the United Opposition of Serbia, exactly a thousand days after Ivanovic's assassination, leader of the Freedom, Democracy Civic Initiative in Northern Mitrovica.
I came from deep revolt. I can't accept that in a civilized state it should be legal, because if it's not legal, then it's not a state now and a thousand days there's no truth who killed Oliver Ivanov. This is really unacceptable. The murder of Oliver Ivanovic is a shot at all of us. And, please stop that shot; state, stop that shot”, Petrovic said.
Zoran Loutovac, chairman of the opposition Democratic Party in Serbia, said it is the government's great responsibility to answer the question of who killed Ivanoviqi, reports the rel.
This is a matter of justice, a matter of state attitude towards those who shoot at the state. Because shooting on Oliver Ivanoviqi is fired on the sound mind, in a policy that tried to understand and tried to make tolerance“, Lluutovac said.
A thousand days after Ivanovic's murder were shot by citizens even in northern Mitrovica, at the site of his murder.
Dejan Nedelkovic, friend of the Ivanovic family and one of the organisers of the gathering, recalled that neither murderers nor those who gave the order are known today.
“There was a thousand days of silence of institutions in Serbia, Kosovo and international institutions for the killing of Ivanovic. He will live as long as each of us lives here. We will remember his work and his work. Oliver, thank you very much for everything”, Nedelkovic said.
Ivanovic was killed with firearms on January 16th, 2018, in front of his party's office in North Mitrovica.
For this crime, so far, no one has been convicted.
