Pope's statement: The Virus Is Not Divine Punishment

The new coronavirus is not a divine punishment, even though it is difficult to think that this global catastrophe is not about how we position ourselves in the face of reality, claiming to be the absolute owners of our lives and all that exists. Nor would it be enough to claim that [...] damage.
Nor would it be enough to claim that the damage done to nature at the end is accountable for our abuses. It's reality itself that complains and rebels”!
So writes Pope Francis, who in these difficult times highlights the need for brotherhood. “Boll with the culture of walls” says the Holy Father, who tries not only to promote but also by actions.
This, according to him, would be contributed to a better “policy”, which is not subject to financial interests but to put in service of common good.
The “who erects walls will end up slave to the wall that itself built”, the Pope said. The head of the Catholic Church likewise stressed that there should be no more wars, which, according to him, “represent mankind's failure”.
