Pope Francisco has for the first time publicly supported the civil unions of the same gender.
He was being interviewed for a long documentary that made his premiere at the Wednesday Film Festival in Rome, Klan Kosova reports.
While serving as archbishop of Buenos Aires, Francesco approved civil unions for homosexual couples as an alternative to same - gender marriage.
However, he had not previously spoken publicly in favor of them as popes.
