The rapidly spreading fire caused the evacuation of 60,000 residents of southern California and hundreds of thousands of people in the United States faced power cuts for the second consecutive day due to the high risk of fires caused by strong winds.
The recent threats come during the worst season of fires in California, which so far has burned more than 1.6 million hectares of land, with thousands of destroyed houses and 31 lost lives.
Warnings have been issued in most of California because of extreme winds that could produce speeds of 113 to 129 km/h, the Department of Forests and Fire Protection announced.
After the dry, violent winds in Santa Anna blowing out of the desert, the flames carried by the wind intensified the fire at Silverado that broke out early today and spread quickly to 809 hectares of Orange County.
60,000 people were ordered to leave their homes in the Irwine area, while Silverado was furious along the canyons near the mountains of Santa Anna, but fortunately there are no reports of victims or material damage.
