Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Abelard Tahiri has said that the once unilateral scandals of the Avdullah Hoti-led government have damaged the integrity of Kosovo public institutions.
Tahiri has unveiled the government's last three ties of Hoti for which he has called for resignations and dismissals of responsible ministers.
He told the media conference that the disappearance of the Anti-Corruption Force investigating corrupt relatives of senior government officials, the 2m-euro theft scandal and the 5m-euro tender given to the minister Kuci's company should not be passed over in silence.
For these government scandals, MP Tahiri has called for the resignations and dismissals of Hykmete Bajrami and Blerim Kuci ministers.
MP Abelard Tahiri's full statement:
Honored Media Representatives
Dear Citizens of the Republic of Kosovo
We're tracking with great concern, ranking one after one of the government's scandals.
In addition to direct damage, these scandals have culminated in damage to the integrity of public institutions.
And as we're looking at the single sequence of scandals, we're seeing no responsibility, no criminal, no professional, no morals from responsible acts of this government.
I'm here today to raise three vital issues that can't go beyond responsibility.
First, we repeat once again that the dismissal of the Kosovo Police Anti-Corruption Force has been a harmful, unreasonable, baseless and politically motivated decision to crack down on order and law.
Task Against Corruption Force, has been responsible for investigating high-level corruption and in direct service to the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo.
Instead of encouraging anti-corruption efficiency, the government Hoti has encouraged crime and corruption since the day it has made a decision to eliminate this Task Force.
The consequences of this decision, unfortunately, will go to the account of the law enforcement institutions, our integration agenda, as well as the image of the Republic of Kosovo itself.
Therefore, we ask Prime Minister Hoti to reflect on the decision he has made to eliminate the Task Force Anti Corruption and cancel it as soon as possible.
Because without such a mechanism, judicial security and citizens' trust in order and law has been violated. Without this Task Force, only corrupt high-level officials are safe.
Second, the Democratic Party of Kosovo is following with great concern -- the lack of responsibility of members of this government -- over recent scandals such as the case of two million.
The gap of two million has clearly shown what uncertainty the budget of taxpayers of the Republic of Kosovo from this government is managing.
Now this case is a matter of the Prosecutor and the Court, but belief in institutional management, like preventing abuse of this nature, is completely hurt.
And for this scandal, we have not seen accountability from the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. Neither the Prime Minister nor the Minister of Finance.
Such easy access to the misuse of the Republic budget is a signal of uncertainty that has been sent to our partners, foreign investors and international financial mechanisms.
Therefore, however, Minister Bajrami has moral responsibility for the case.
Such a criminal act within an institution of such great responsibility should be associated with a moral act, namely, the minister's irrevocable resignation.
Thirdly, we have also seen the unprecedented scandal of the tender relative which Minister Kuci's company has won.
For nearly nine years of international administration, and the 12 years of our sovereign state, there has not been such a dangerous precedent for the integrity of public institutions, than this case, where the company benefits tenders from the government, in which its owner belongs.
Thus, Prime Minister Hoti will be remembered as tolerant of such a, so dangerous and acceptable precedent, for which neither he nor Minister Kuci took any action, and they have felt sorry for anything like that.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo, estimates that these scandals, have challenged the integrity of public institutions more than ever, and hurt it more than ever, the trust citizens should have in institutions.
The responsibility for these scandals is not the solution. It's a duty. Therefore, we ask Prime Minister Hoti, that through the dismissal of these two ministers, as well as the withdrawal of the decision to eliminate the Task Against Corruption Force, mark the first act of halting the further degradation of governance in the country.
Of course, we suspect he could restore the image of good governance, but at least, with these steps, stop the further degradation of public institutions in the Republic of Kosovo.
