PDK: Education deteriorating, multi-year lack of investments in capital

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), through a media conference, has listed some of the problems in education. PDK Headship member Blerand Stavileci and MEP Ariana Musliu-Shoshi have criticised Pristina chairman Shpend Ahmeti for lack of investment. Stavileci said steadily degraded education has become the main concern [...]
Stavileci said the steadily degraded education has become the main concern of families in the capital.
“As a consequence of lack of vision and failure to manage the budget effectively, education is being degraded and has turned into the main concern of our families. Uncertainty and numerous dilemmas from the quality of our teaching to the physical security of our children are conveying each exacerbating family”, he said.
According to him, the capital's current governments have become the main obstacle to education.
The local governments of the two ruling parties -- the Vetevendosje Party and the Democratic League -- not only are they not having vision, knowledge, courage and energy to move the processes forward and improve education, but they have become the main obstacle in this area, degrading it to all forms and levels, with what the future of our children is jeopardising. Completely unintelligible and unwarranted to have all these needs for investment in the municipality exceeded from 20m euros a year, the government will cut the budget for education for nearly 12m euros”.
Meanwhile, PDK MP Ariana Musliushi spoke about politicising educational institutions in the Pristina municipality, delaying in organising and preparing school facilities, poor management and lack of funding to face COVID19 pandemic.
“Problem is also the non-election of directors and vice principals with contests in schools, but continue only with appointments for several years, and that's incompatible with law”, she said, among other things.
