Miners warn strikes, protests if dialogue for Trepca with Serbia

The Trepca mine miners in Stantrg have warned of the passage of the situation if talks between Kosovo and Serbia are held on Trepca.

They have warned government officials to be careful that Trepca does not get involved in this dialogue, on the contrary, warned strikes and protests.

Gani Osmani, chairman of the Trepca Workers Union in Stantrg, has announced about Kosova Prees, that miners are overly concerned about some rumours that Trepca could be the subject of talks between Kosovo and Serbia.

According to him, discontent can draw the situation out of control and force miners to go on strike and protests, so it has appealed to government officials to be careful what they are signing.

Be careful that Trepca is not the subject of dialogue with Serbia, because Trepca is its own miners and the riches that God has forgiven us on our land. We have no sea, no fertile land, no wealth, but Trepca... The miners feel a measure of dissatisfaction with these talks, and from this discontent they are able to enter perhaps even strikes and protests. We're warning the government that we will be careful... what we're signing be careful because discontent can get the situation out of control”, Osmani said.

Qazim Hyseni, miner, said that if the Trepca issue is discussed with Serbia, then miners will go on strike and protest the same as the 90s.

“If our government held talks on Trepca we will go on strike or take steps like we went to Pristina in the 1990s, we will go back if necessary”, Hyseni stressed.

Even Isa Beqiri, the miner for more than 40 years, has been marking the rise in Pristina of miners and the entire population if Trepca becomes the subject of these talks.

If talks are held with Serbia on Trepca, we are the same in 1989 and we will invite all the people to Pristina. He who talks about Trepca and the municipality association has no place in Kosovo”, Preress Beqiri told Kosovo. /A. Damnit.
