Macedonia-Kosovo border to stay open

For now, in addition to last week's recommendations, there is no need for additional retributions due to Covid-19, Health Minister Venko Filipce said today. During the past week, as Minister Filipce said, we recommended that there be no more than four people's gatherings after 22, no more than four persons in domestic conditions, which also apply to other European countries and the recommendation to keep the mask in open place, because we think that this is a measure that will affect the decline of this wave we face.
From the formal legal aspect, the law must be changed because all these measures, including keeping personal protective equipment in the open, are regulated by legal decree that was passed in the last days of the state of emergency. For this to be controlled and for institutions to be able to implement, and if they fail to implement it, legal changes are necessary. The quickest way is to intervene with amendments to the Law to Protect the People From Contagional Diseases, which is currently in parliamentary procedure”, Filipce said.
Northern Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said that at the moment there is no reason for renewed closure of the border with Kosovo, because the Commission in question has not ascertained that the infections come from Kosovo, rather from within the country.
“The Commission for Infectious Disease (KSI) analyzes the situation, and finds out whether there is reason for closing the border. If the infection is presented because of trips with Kosovo, then there is reason for closure, but if the spread of the virus comes from within, then we see no reason for closing the” border, Zaev said.
Kosovo, Macedonia are among the only countries to remove tests among them PCR for coronary. Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia have not removed them for the citizens of Macedonia.
