The EU's special minister for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, has held a media conference in Pristina, following the meeting he had with all political leaders in the country.
Lajcak has said that since the first time he was in Pristina, four months ago, progress has been achieved in the dialogue process.
Remember this is my second visit. We made good progress from our first visit four months ago. We resumed dialogue in mid-July and have since held three high-level meetings and a number of rounds with the chief negotiators. We agreed on what are the main elements of the agreement and now we are negotiating them in detail. We're discussing a comprehensive, legally binding agreement. An agreement that will bring Kosovo and Serbia closer to the EU because it is based on international law”, he has said.
On the other hand, he also spoke a little bit about Association, which he said Kosovo should stand up to its pledges.
We have discussed the missing and the found, and this is an important issue for reconciliation, and the second issue is economic. There are no easy issues in our process, and we agree to discuss them, as is the issue of the multi-summ Association, and this has been dealt with by emotion in Kosovo, and I understand the concern. Kosovo has made pledges with the 2013 and 2015 agreement and should show consistency for these pledges. The dialogue should close all open issues”, Lajcak said.
Lajcak said he will go to Belgrade tomorrow, and that soon he will welcome delegations for the new round of talks,
I will travel to Belgrade. I welcome the two delegations to Brussels soon,”, Lajcak said.
