In a response issued by the Embassy, the selection process is said to have been shut down with the foundation since they lack transparency and have conflicts of interest.
As a result of such a situation, the US Embassy has announced that it will not continue to monitor such a process.
Because further evolution of the Embassy can be misinterpreted as adopting this broken system, we will not participate. Prosecutors need to be selected on the basis of the qualifications, rather than on the basis of belonging and links to policy”, it is said in response.
“Changes of the legal framework on which the Prosecutorial Council is based are necessary to establish transparency and justice in this system. Therefore, we call on all sides to support the justice ministry's efforts to immediately complete Functional Review”, the response concludes.
