Full response:
Today, the Republic of Kosovo marks “week of pride”, with the aim of supporting and guaranteeing the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community in the country and anywhere in the world.
The commitment of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, with strong support from international partners, has shown a steady increase in activities that have advanced the rights of citizens of this community. As a result, in our country today all government buildings have placed colorful flags, It is symbolic of institutional support and respect for the universality of human rights and the fundamental principle of equality and not discrimination.
In this context, the Republic of Kosovo has consolidated the legal framework with the Law for Protection from Discrimination, which provides the promotion and protection of all marginalised groups in society, including the LGBTIQ+ community. So promotion and protection of the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community is an integral responsibility of all institutions in the country.
The Co-ordination and Counseling Group, as one of the highest institutional mechanisms led by the Office of the Prime Minister / Office for Good Governance, has consistently had and will have my support for initiatives and actions that point towards meeting the needs and rights of the LGBIQ+ community to conform to constitutional rights, legal and European standards for human rights.
