SKKUK Director Valbon Krasniqi has said that despite having an increase in the number of infected, the situation is calmer than in the summer months.
Krasniqi has also told the Online Economy about preparations that are being made for the winter season, where patients can be affected by seasonal flu.
These last 10 days, we have an increasing tendency of the number of cases that are infected, and this is reflecting and with increased demand for hospital treatment. If we make a comparison, at the beginning of October we had about 150 patients lying in all regional hospitals and at QKUK, now this number has already already exceeded 200 who have been hospitalised, so you see a slight increase of patients and we are carefully following this epidemiological situation”.
Whatever the situation is calmer than we had in July and August, and this has served us to continue intensive preparations for the winter season we are already entering and potentially we will have the seasonal flu and we may have a more severe” situation, Krasniqi said.
The good news is also the decline in the death toll by Avid-19. He has said it remains important for them to build capacities in combating pandemic.
Yet it is good that now the death toll has dropped significantly. We as cynics fight for each patient. The clinically speaking is much more important, and each patient's life is very valuable. We're making maximum effort to increase the quality of these services, while for all those who need to be admitted to the hospital, we have the capacity to accept”
Out of 700 beds as available, Krasniqi says they are aiming for the number of beds to take up to 900, depending on the need.
The situation is manageable and we're in a much better situation than we were during the summer months, but it doesn't take our attention away from the following months that we can expect an increased number of infected people and therefore greater demands”.
You know that during the summer with the reorganization we did in general hospitals and QKUK clinics, we've managed to make about 700 beds available, while now we also have the plan to have as many as 900 beds available if the need for such a number of hospitals” arises, he said.
Krasniqi has appealed to citizens to respect the recommendations of health institutions so that this number can decline again.
