This number is larger than the previous record, when 6,294 cases were recorded on March 28th, writes The Guardian, broadcast Express.
The black record came after Chancellor Angela Merkel's meeting with the regional prime ministers of the 16 republics, where agreement on new regulations was reached.
Under new regulations, cities and regions where the infection rate is rising rapidly must impose restrictions on the event from 23pm for bars and restaurants.
Germany is one of the most infected European states with the new virus, but there are apparently fewer victims than countries at the top of the list, such as Great Britain, Spain, Italy and France.
