Recent days have significantly increased cases with Coronavirus in Kosovo.
Only during today were 284 new cases recorded, which could bring a second closure to our country.
But against total closure, economic expert Safet Gerjaliu is saying.
Gerjaliu says a second closure would destroy our country's fragile economy.
“In this direction, the private sector and citizens are ahead of major challenges, and a new eventary closure had to be devastating to the economy. I believe that in this direction the control should be increased and we have to stick to IKSHPK recommendations, closure had been the last act it had to destroy Kosovo's fragile economy, as well as Kosovo's”, Gerjaliu added.
He stresses that as countries of the region have taken progressive steps to cope with the consequences of pandemic, political agendas in Kosovo are taking over.
“The countries of the region and more widely have taken very progressive and advanced steps to cope with the consequences of the pandemic, and to support businesses in Kosovo, dominate political agendas, political parties' interests and specific interest groups and not vote a simpler bill on economic recovery”, Gerjaliu told Blic newspaper.
Gerjaliu considers that a total closing step should not be taken but that further steps must be taken to save the economy.
“Definitely, businesses and citizens have had minority support, and the government of Kosovo is unable to do more for businesses and citizens, if the total closure occurs then it had to bring collapse of Kosovo's economy and challenges would only increase because we are delayed because there is a lack of a state extension for citizens and businesses, and the co-operation should be advanced between re-proliferational acts, not the fight for power “, Gerjaliu concluded.
