The pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus has affected all levels of society around the world, and the same has happened in Kosovo. But what appears to be the most striking layer and with the least support the students will still be.

Kosovo's government, through the Economic Recovery Pack, has helped businesses and employees, the government has also helped families in social assistance, and all social categories are expected to have additional state aid, but not students, the news says.net.

Students of the University of Pristina will have no ease, nor will they be freed from the fees owed to the University, either at the respective faculties.

According to information from news.net, high-level students of studies (as opposed to the first year that are free of payment per year), second year and third year will pay the same amount per semester - 25 euros.

Also in the student admission competition at the second level of studies, master becomes clear that in the case of college enrollment after accession, students should also have the 150-euro card that is downloaded from SEMS and paid to the bank.

In this regard, Student Parliament MP Oktaj Hasani has said that so far the UN has made no decision regarding the release of students from payments.

Hasan further says Deputy Education Minister Xhavit Rexhaj has promised maximum support to the payment release students, and also shows that they have requested meetings with Prime Minister Hoti, but also with Finance Minister Hykmete Bajrami.

The “actually up to this day yes, not one step has yet been taken by the UN, in terms of the students' requests for payment release. I, as MP in the Student Parliament and as representative of the Student Organisation RFORMA, along with representatives of the other SKV Student Organisation, have met vice. Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Xhavit Rexhaj, who promised us maximum support for our demands. We also submitted our request to Prime Minister Hoti's office during the week, but also to Finance Minister Hykmete Bajrami. We're expecting an invitation to the meeting, and then we'll continue the dialogue on the best possible solution. ”, Hasani told news.net.

Hasan says that semester payments are not the only problem of students, even though at master level the amount is extremely high.

He further says that administrative payments, books, travel, exam payment and other obligations are a burden to students, adding how these reasons seem to have not been enough for the government to put even the student category into the emergency package.

The only layer of Kosovo society that has not been helped by the Government are students. The reason for this is that they are helping us with scholarships and easy access to certain categories of students. However, they do not seem to realize that not all students are bursists, and not all are given special needs. So the middle class of students is what gets most of this logic. At least 25 euros for the Bachelor semester isn't big, but here they go: Buying books, administrative fees, travelling if someone has to go out and do some work on Fakulett, then we have the master, 150 euros of semester, payment for exams, all of this seems not enough for the government to get us into the emergency package.”, Hasani said.

Driton Brajshori, a student of the Technical School on News.net, has also indicated that it would be a great help for students to be released from payment of semester and other payments.

Normal. It was not bad for us to get paid or left for this year. We're also touched by the pandemic, the wine we've been working on, we're not working right now, but most students don't even work, then parents have an extra burden on their children, really would be helpful.”, Brajshori said.

For the importance of getting paid or reducing payment for the semester and Erseka Maxu from the Faculty of Medicine, says he would motivate the students for work and release them from mourning.

Yes, of course, it would be good because we would be relieved of the pain of paying and focusing on academic and professional. ”, she said.

Meanwhile, the government of Kosovo has recently implemented the move of economic recovery, where it has assisted businesses with about 290 euros for each registered employee in the company.

Similarly, the government predicts that with the measures of the Economic Resiliency Pack, business support will continue, but also physical persons, workers and households with social assistance, but students have never been mentioned.

Whether the Ministry of Education and Science or the Government of Kosovo will make a decision to free students of various levels at the University of Pristina, is unknown, but according to what is known so far, this has not happened.
