America's leading expert on infectious diseases, Anthony Fauci, today criticised the statement of a group of scientists supporting the concept of “unibility of the flock”.
The White House uses the concept to encourage the reopening of schools and companies, the AP reports.
Fauci noted that supporting the idea that the infection will stop spreading when the majority of the population is overloaded is “total x1>taker.
He explained that anyone with experience in epidemiology and infectious diseases means it is dangerous and that many more vulnerable categories of the population will be infected, which will lead to an increase in the number of hospital stays and deaths.
This is why I think we should face facts and say it's pointless,” said Fauci in an interview for ABC News.
The United States is the country with the highest reported number of cases of coronary and world deaths. So far, 7.9 million people have been infected in the country, and 217,000 have died.
