Due to the rise in new coronary cases in the country, the Kosovo Correcting Service (SHKK) has announced that it has interrupted all visits of family members and others for prisoners.

Through an announcement, the SKK has announced that since 21 October, visits will be interrupted until another date, the news says.

“As alternative to all corrective institutions will allow frequent calls and virtual communication system via SCYEP under institutional procedures. Also, because of the temporary ban on visits, cleaning clothes for prisoners will be organised in the” institutions, the announcement says among other things.

The FKK's full announcement, without interference:

Kosovo's Correcting Service announces the public opinion that, in the wake of the increasing number of cases of COVIID 19 in our country, with the aim of preventing the spread of pandemic and protection of prison health and staff in corrective institutions, the Kosovo Correcting Service has been forced to take necessary action, with what occasion has the Operational Order issued for preventing temporary family visits, visits by nongovernmental organisations and weekends to jail.

This ban begins to apply from 21,10,20 to another decision.

As an alternative to all corrective institutions, more frequent calls and the virtual communication system through SCYEP will be allowed under institutional procedures. Also, because of the temporary ban on visits, cleaning clothes for prisoners will be organised in institutions.

This decision excludes the ombudsman's institution and defenders from ongoing cases of trial.

The Kosovo Correcting Service will continue institutional co-ordination with relevant institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and will keep the broad opinion about the ongoing steps.
