EU to hand over special comments about President Thaci's referenda

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borelli and the new EULEX Mission in Kosovo chief, Lars-Gunnar Wigermark, have asked the Constitutional Court, which is within the Special Court to postpone the publication of the position about the president's proposed amendments, Hashim Thaci, about the Special mandate. Such a request [...]
Such a request has been accepted, and instead of October 19th, the Special Constitutional Court's position for the amendments of President Thaci will be granted on November 2nd.
Such a decision has been signed by Judge Vidar Stansland, reports Kosovo.
Proposal of the two amendments by President Thaci has not been well received by the Special Prosecutor's Office, which has once again considered it “efforts to break the Special Court”.
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci officially addressed the Kosovo Parliament's Headship on 25 August with proposals for the Constitutional Amendment for extending the mandate of Specialised Chambers and the Specialised Prosecutor's Office in The Hague. Thaci in his proposal sent the Parliament's Headship, has sought to change the amendment's article, where it says the term of this institution will last for a period of five years.
Under Thaci's proposal, the mandate of Specialised Chambers and Specialised Prosecutor's Office “will last until the announcement of the end of the mandate is made by the European Union Council in consultation with the Government of the Republic of Kosovo”.
Based on the amendment to the Kosovo Constitution, under which the Specialised Chambers and the Office of Kosovo Specialised Prosecutor at The Hague, known as the Special Court for War Crimes in Kosovo, the five-year term of this institution expires in August of this year.
However, in the Law for ratification of international agreements between Kosovo and the European Union, it is said that the mandate of this court will be completed when the European Union Council will announce Kosovo's institutions, which is confirmed in itself.
