About a quarter of the medical staff are said to be ill with COVID-19.
So far in 10 hospitals in the country, medical personnel who have proved positive have no symptoms to continue working.
The head of the Belge Association of Medical Unions told the BBC that they had no choice but to prevent the collapse of the hospital system within days.
One in three tested persons is resulting in positive coronarys in the Belgian eastern city. Hospitals are transferring other patients elsewhere and canceling emergency operations.
