The director of the so-called Office for Kosovo in Serbia's Government, Marko Djuric, has reacted to statements by Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti.

On Tuesday after the publication of the Progress Report on Western Balkan countries by the European Commission, Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti also spoke of dialogue with Serbia.

Among other things, as never before, Hoti was firm, saying nothing would be implemented by the current achievements in dialogue without the final agreement on existing borders.

But the principles in the dialogue process apply, and on this principle, we don't agree if we don't agree on all of this, and nothing is implemented that starts to apply until the final agreement is concluded with mutual recognition. Because we have set up the process of dialogue, not for a temporary solution, but for a final solution that closes once and for all, normalises relations between the two countries” forever, Hoti said on Monday, news reports.

And these statements have sparked reactions in Serbia. It is exactly the director of the so-called Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Marko Djuric, who has reacted by citing these statements by Prime Minister Hoti as blackmail.

According to him, this is a blackmailing strategy that Hoti is using and that in addition to breaking up the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, this statement also contains the message that Kosovo is not interested in any normalisation and, according to him, for Kosovo normalisation is only a means to defraud recognition.

“Hott is using the means of professional blackmail in order to try to bring Serbia and the European Union ahead of an act carried out by offering a choice between blocking dialogue and recognising Kosovo's independence from Serbia”, Djuric said at a conference for media, broadcast news.net.

Djuric has invited the international community to react to these statements, as he said, to read well between lines these messages, as Djuric put it, these statements are essentially a threat that Kosovo will bring destabilisation to the region if Serbia does not recognise its independence.

For Belgrade, the process of normalising relations is not a tool, but a goal, because we are sincerely interested in gradually creating an atmosphere in the region in which unresolved disputes will not result in enmity and conflicts”, Djuric stressed.

According to him, if Hoti sincerely wanted the good of the people and all other residents in Kosovo, he would not act that way, but would work diligently to implement solutions that contribute to stability and reconciliation in Kosovo.

“Serbs in Kosovo will not be hostage to Hoti and we will continue to be persistent in our efforts to resolve open issues at the negotiating table, but I must tell European partners that the situation that is bringing us home with its political inadequacy is becoming increasingly absurd. I sincerely worry about the future of the” dialogue, Djuric said away, broadcast the news.net.

He says he will continue to insist on implementing the Association Agreement in both Brussels and other countries, as, according to him, only with implementation of the Association can the dialogue process get out of this impasse.
