After months of closure, Kosovo today has opened its border with northern Macedonia, until citizens can travel there without a PCR test.
As the measures have been released and borders are being opened, an alarming situation is in other European countries, which no one has seen a record number of infections since yesterday.
According to the World Health Organization, the highest rate of infection in one day since the pandemic's proclamation, which is 8.3% higher than last Friday's record of about 114 thousand new cases.
Increasing the number of infections in Europe, but even worldwide, has alarmed Kosovo institutions that have reported in recent days lower numbers of people affected with COVID 19 in the country.
Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti has warned that the risk of a new COVID 19 wave is too big in Kosovo as well.
He has said that even though there has been a decline in cases, according to the forecast the numbers are expected to increase and therefore, measures should be tightened as it is in most European Union countries. Hoti has asked for understanding of decisions expected to be made to tighten the measures. Therefore, we all need to have understanding about the tightening of the measures in the coming weeks, including disruptions of closed gatherings, restrictions on any activity where citizens gather, rigorous control of schools for meeting measures for protection from the screwd-19 and other measures. The Minister of Health, Armend Zemaj, also wrote about the tightening of the measures through a news conference.
He has said austerity measures in the coming days are necessary.
Therefore, the release of measures that were made on September 25th has been made under the condition that all activities are allowed, as well as those that were allowed previously to be developed based exclusively on relevant sectoral protocols and guidelines and on the Manual's instructions for halting the spread of Covid-19 and respecting anti-vis 19”, he wrote.
Currently in Kosovo there are 1,000 and 197 active cases with COVID 19.
“over the last 24 hours, at the Medieval Microbiology Laboratory in IKSCK and private labs with RT- The PCR, a total of 680 samples taken by the SSKKUK and tracking ground-related contacts, out of which 49 positive cases result. The same suggest that the total number of positive cases so far is 16,179 cases out of 74,586 suspicious persons in the SARS-CoV-2 virus and 647 cases of death.
