A new trial hearing in case “Venters”. This session has started with about an hour's delay since the court has been in trouble to virtually lock up with the accused, Fadil Shudreaj, who is attending this hearing on health grounds.
In this case, for misuse of official position or authority, former Kosovo Prime Minister Agim Ceku, former Defence Minister Rrustem Berisha, MP Shkumbin Demalijaj, and nine other people are charged.
They are being accused of being part of the Government Commission for the recognition and Verification of the Status of the Nation's Witness, Invaledit, veterani, Partitarian and the KLA War Interview.
Even during this trial hearing, 12 indictees have been declared innocent.
The Foundation Court in Pristina has banned the publication of the defense of the accused in the “Venterians” case.
The chairman of the court, Nushe Kuka-Mekaj, said granting protection could be recorded and filmed, but it cannot be published until the outcome of the defence offering by all indictees.
The accused, Agim Ceku, is the first to be invited before the court to grant his defense.
And the court has demanded that the other 11 indictees clear the hall so they are unaware of the defendant's answers during his interrogation.
The Constitutional Court in Pristina, on June 19, 2019, had confirmed the indictment, while the Court of Appeals had confirmed that ruling in August of this year. /B. Ibishi/
