Bytyqi and Hoxha from PDK: We will name those who abuse public property

MPs from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Gazmend Bytyqi and the other MP of this same party, Sejdj Hoxha, have held today a media conference, through which they have most widely announced the work of the parliamentary commission on privatisations, whose foundation has initiated PDK in July of this year. MPs Bytyqi and Hoxha [...]

MPs Bytyqi and Hoxha have warned that they will name and surname all abusers of public property in Kosovo and their political affiliation.

For a long time, the Democratic Party of Kosovo has been falsely accused of abuses and illegal benefits with the privatisation process. Even many of these charges have come from parties that have mostly exploited this process for its officials' narrow interests. Therefore, we as the PDK have launched this process that aims to clear up possible abuses that may have occurred in this process, as well as to give fair information to all citizens of the country about any political link the people who have privatised the state assets of our country. ”, MP Gazmend Bytyqi said.

The Commission has also selected four professional experts who will help his professional work.

Former ministers, board directors and executive directors of the Privatisation Board, as well as UNMIK representatives who have been part of the AKP board have been invited for interviews on this commission.

The list of witnesses has been proposed to include former head of the AKM Board, Andy Bearpark and management directors Herbert Schmidt, Yergen Mendrick and Jasper Dick.

Thank you for responding to the PDK's invitation for this media conference.

Today we're here with my deputy colleague, Mr. President. Sejdiu Hoxha, both of us members of parliament's privatisation investigation commission

As you are informed, at the initiative of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Kosovo Assembly has established the Parliamentary Investigative Commission, which in its scope aims to investigate and whiteen all privatisations made in Kosovo.

For a long time, the Democratic Party of Kosovo has been falsely accused of abuses and illegal benefits with the privatisation process. Even many of these charges have come from parties that have mostly exploited this process for its officials' close interests.

Therefore, we as the PDK began this process aimed at clarifying possible abuses that may have occurred in this process, as well as to inform directly all citizens of the country of any political connection that has had persons who have privatised the state assets of our country.

This commission will make a difference to bring the truth to light and during the work it will do will be published by name and surname all those persons or interest groups that have benefited illegally or abused state property.

We are convinced that public opinion will be surprised when it finds that the biggest privatisations of public or social enterprises are exactly those who have criticised the privatisation process in public mostly.

So abusers who have chosen the attack as the best defense instrument to hide their abuses.

As a commission, we are co-operating very closely with all sides of the interest involved in this process, to be as transparent as possible with the media and the public at all meetings of this commission are open.

Our goal is to make a thorough and comprehensive investigation so that we present all of those individuals or interest groups who have abused the public properties of the state of Kosovo.

As a commission, we want to co-operate very closely with citizens and with all sides of interest in seeking truth.

We all want that their evidence, concerns, or convictions about privatisation send through physical form or through the now open electronic address.

The Commission has also selected four professional experts who will help the commission's work.

The Commission has drafted a list of witnesses who are being invited to the interview, on this list are included former ministers who, under official duty, were part of the privatisation Board.

Board directors and executive directors of this institution have also been invited for interviews, as have representatives of UNMIK who have been part of the AKP Board. We've already started interviewing a piece of witnesses.

To be as precise and as complete as the PDK, we will propose to the commission that the witness list be increased so that we can have as much information on this process as possible. Today we are also offering some concrete proposals to include the list of witnesses:

Ex-Head of EU Pearl I V UNMIK, as well as former management directors:

Herbert Schmidt, Yuergen Mendrick and Jasper Dick,

Soon we will introduce other local witnesses who can bring us information on the privatisation process in Kosovo.

The PDK remains committed and will work hard in combating negative phenomena which are an obstacle to the country's development, as well as the creation of a better perspective of our youth, so the issue of privatisation will also be brought to the end, naming and abusive public property and their political affiliation.

So far we've received dozens of testimony from the citizens we're dealing with at committee meetings.

Meanwhile, we invite and welcome all citizens interested in contributing to this investigation to make it more efficient and transparent.
