Ghebrès, at a press conference held at O headquarters The BSH in Geneva, via videoconference, said the epidemic “entered an alarming phase”.
“While the northern hemisphere enters the winter, we see the cases rising rapidly, especially in Europe and North America. We know that a few months will be difficult when the winter comes”, Ghebraesus indicated.
Noting that he is satisfied with the measures taken by leaders of many countries to slow the spread of the virus and protect health care workers and health systems, Ghebrreesus said: “Nurses and doctors today know how to take better care of infected patients than in the early days of the epidemic. However, when hospital capacity is achieved and exceeded, a very difficult and dangerous situation will arise for both patients and health care professionals. Therefore, it is important that all governments focus on basic bases to help break transmission chains and save life and livelihood”.
O Director General The BSH noted that the fundamental principles in question are the discovery of active cases, the research of groups in regions where the virus is common, the isolation of all cases, contact quarantine, good clinical care, support and protection of health care professionals.
