Josep Borrell answered a question by a member of the European Parliament on relations between the European Union and the United States policies.

The European top diplomat said that part of the document signed by representatives of Serbia and Kosovo in Washington at the beginning of September “is based on previous commitments made by both sides in dialogue” and can provide a useful “conterium” for reaching a comprehensive, legally binding “agreement.

Responding to a written question by EU MPs on political relations B E-US, Serbia-Kosovo dialogue, but also on “the independence of the EU voice in the Balkans”, Borrell stressed that both Serbian President and Kosovo's prime minister in recent visits to Brussels have stressed that they give priority to European integration and EU-mediated dialogue, writes Aljazeera Balkans.

The EU-sponsored “Dialog is a key element of their European roads”, he said.

In response to a parliamentary question, Borrell added that Kosovo and Serbia leaders have pledged to double their efforts to ensure further harmonisation with the EU in line with commitments
