Authorities in Minsk have suppressed protests against President Alexander Lukashenko, who declared victory in August's contested elections, writes BBC, broadcast Gazeta Express.
The opposition says he must resign, but Lukashenko has named opposition figures Western dolls trying to bring him down from power.
British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said the decision to withdraw the ambassador from the authoritarian country is solidification with Poland and Lithuania, which has also criticised President Lukaschenko.
On Friday, Belarus expelled 35 diplomats from neighbouring countries. The British chief diplomat described this as an unwarranted decision, which, according to him, will only further isolate the Belarusic people.
Ambassadors from Belarus have already attracted Germany, Romania, the Czech Republic and the Baltic countries.
