Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has criticised the European Union's position on the issue with Kosovo. In exchange for recognising Kosovo, he has said the EU only offers it a path to <x0-> light” towards the EU, but is not offering Serbia anything.
The Serbian president has talked to an Austrian media about dialogue with Kosovo.
When asked why Serbia does not recognise Kosovo's independence, Vuciq replied: “What we're all offering now is nothing. You tell us to vote for Kosovo independence, then the path towards the EU will be easier, it's nothing big. No one guarantees us EU membership”, has criticised the head of the Serbian state.
“No one in the West has offered us anything for Kosovo, except our humiliation, unlike the US, which offered us economic assistance to develop our relations”, he said in an interview Sunday in “Klein Zeitung”.
Vuciq says Serbia cannot be forced to recognise Kosovo without getting something in return.
