The visit he planned to make was forced to cease without arriving.
Kosovar Muhamet Statovci left to visit his brother in Switzerland, but to get there he used Austria's transit routes. There, he was detained by Austrian police, who told him he does not recognise Kosovo's drivers.
Statovci, who was forced back and fined 300 euros, has provided more details concerning the event.
Austrian police stopped me at the border. As I was asked, I handed in my passports. I'm told everything is fine, but we don't know Kosovo drivers' license. I asked them for the reason, but they told me they have not recognised Kosovo drivers until now. I told him that I've traveled to Europe several times and that didn't happen to me at”.
I was told I should return to Kosovo immediately and be fined 300 euros. I had to pay 300 euros immediately and get back. I was told that if I don't pay the fine, then the Austrian court tomorrow takes other measures”.
But will he complain to Kosovo institutions about what happened to him?
I arrived early this morning. Tomorrow I want to contact the Ministry of Internal Affairs and find out why Austria does not recognise Kosovo drivers' license. I've never had trouble traveling to Germany, Switzerland, and France”
