Austria's official COVID-19 passed significantly in red this evening, when 21 new regions were designated as highly dangerous infection zones.
Along with the four districts, which have already been declared high-level danger zones, about a fifth of Austria's regions now appear red on the map.
The expert committee, which oversees the warning system, put the changes to its weekly meeting, as the number of new COVID-19 daily cases reached a new record 2 435 infections, the ATS reports.
The color coded system was introduced in early September and consists of four levels: green, yellow, orange and red.
The red level determines the very high number of cases of weekly population, with a high number of cases, when origin is unclear and when there is little control over infection groups.
