Among the strict measures announced by the authorities on Monday are also included in the closure of theatres, cinemas, museums and parks for at least two weeks, while gyms and swimming pools have lowered their onions since Friday, A2 reports.
Schools will remain closed until at least November 2nd, except gardens for children and employees in key sectors. Keeping the mask in public environments is mandatory and gatherings are limited to 6 people.
While calling the high level of infection alarming, Health Minister Roman Prymula said the Czech health system is facing significant growth in intensive therapies and that more people are dying.
On Friday, the country marked 8617 new cases over 24 hours, the highest figure since the beginning of the pandemic, while a record 65 victims were registered Monday.
