Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, during this year fellow countrymen have been unable to come to Kosovo as in the past. However, despite that they have been careful to bring enough money to Kosovo, proving once again that they invest in their country.
From the Kosovo Central Bank (BQK), it has indicated that between January and August of this year, the exile has sent a total of 606.5m euros.
According to the CEC, this year the remittances from the charter have been for 53.4 million more than the same time period last year.
In the January-August 2020 period, the value of remittances amounted to 606.5m euros. This value is for 53.4m euros more than the same period last year, where remittances stood at 553.1m euros. Referring to the amount of 606.5m, 88.8m euros were sent through commercial banks, 433.2m euros were sent through vehicle transfer agencies like (Western Union, MoneyGram Kosovo, and similar). Also, 84.5m euros were sent through the informal channel (e.g. The carrying of the money in your pocket)”, says the BQK's response to news.net
The CEC has also announced that mostly money was sent from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the United States of America and France.

According to official Kosovo Central Bank data, mostly money was sent in May.
In May of this year, the diaspora had sent a total of 104m euros to Kosovo, and in July 92.3m euros.
