British and American bombs weighing 250kg each were deactivated, and officials added that initially they thought there were four bombs, the AP reports.
Two nearby hospitals were evacuated, and the inhabitants of the surrounding streets 14,000 of them were placed in schools and asked not to approach the area where the bombs were discovered.
The train station was also closed, while the train lines had been diverted.
Before experts deactivated the bombs, helicopters monitored the area.
The unbroken World War II bombs are often found in Germany, and their deactivation often requires the evacuation of a large number of people.
