Speaker of the House of Representatives, Pelosi has been engaged in discussions for three weeks with the majority leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, concerning Trump's judgment in the Senate.

The Democrats have called for the involvement of witness statements and evidence for President Trump's pressure on Ukraine over investigations into the president and former vice president Joe Beden.

McConelle did not support this idea by stressing that there are enough republican votes to start the trial without any further witnesses being heard, including Trump National Security Adviser John Bolton.

The Democrats are trying to convince some moderate republics to allow new witnesses.

The Senate is expected to try Trump before the presidential campaign begins.

The president is accused of abuse of power and obstruction of the work of Congress.

The investigation began after an unidentified informant informed Congress of a call between President Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart, Voldymir Zelenksy, held in July of this year, writes Europe. According to him, during the conversation, Trump had asked Zelensky that Ukraine investigate corruption, his political rival, Joe Biden, and his son Hunter.

Joe Biden is among the main contenders to win the Democrats' nomination for the 2020 presidential election.

Trump is also accused of conditioning US financial assistance to Ukraine in exchange for required investigations.
