He made these comments in Pristina, in response to delays in establishing the new government on the part of the Vetevendosje movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo.
“expects the political spectrum to drain all communication opportunities for institution building then we will see steps we will take”, he said.
President Thaci has already signed the decision giving the government the mandate to establish Vetevendosje Movement Chairman Albin Kurti.
I expect, except that I have signed the decision, thinking that it will only take it after it has been declared, conducted a candidate for prime minister, appointed half the government, is perfectly normal, understandable and responsible that, in a physical or physical sense or through other communication, officially accepts the nomination as a candidate for prime minister. If not, of course it is his right to reject the public or officials who are not ready but it remains his responsibility to respect the will of the electorate, but even before the whole of Kosovo citizens, the state of Kosovo and of course the support of our international partners”, said President Thaci.
President Thaci said that the address of the stalemate is still in the political parties, and that at the moment he moves into another phase, he will work to ensure the democratic functioning of Kosovo institutions.
“Kosovo will not long be blocked, but I will once point out once again, we will look at all political variation opportunities that have the address of political parties with their responsibilities of respecting civic will, but also on constitutional and legal responsibilities, all citizens who have voted should respect and, of course, not just a political address, I continue to firmly believe that we will move in the right direction to continue implementing priorities that as a state of Kosovo, whether for visa liberalisation or for our Euro-Atlantic future<1> he said.
The Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo are involved in talks to reach an agreement for co-governance, but without any results. The leaders of the two political parties have left open the possibility of continuing negotiations, which have not secured an agreement for co-governance even more than three months from holding early elections on October 6th.
Kosovo has experience of long process negotiation of ruling coalitions. After the 2014 elections, it had taken six months to find a solution.
The entire process of negotiations on forming the government has been traversed by different ideas about the agreement, while the only unchanged position so far is the insistence of both parties that there is no alternative but the coalition between them, even not rejecting the possibility of the country going to new elections.
