Summer days are now two decades old, they're raising “the soul. Like it happened yesterday. It is still fresh on the day it was violated by the invading Serbian police forces. Whenever summer days come, this woman and thousands of others who experienced the horrors are growing more pain. The state so far except that it has begun to recognise their status, they have not received any kind of assistance.

She is just one of 20,000 young women and girls who were victims of sexual violence during the recent war in Kosovo.

With tears in her eyes, this woman on her 40s tells about Kosova Prees the anguish and horror she experienced July 1998 . She and several other family members by car were on their way to some of their relatives. They had fallen into the hands of Serb police forces, when they experienced horror for the living.

From there she had returned home in serious health. Trembling and weeping, she tries to describe the minutes when she was physically mistreated until she says that none of the bully's faces had ever been able to remember.

Her body thrills every time those sad scenes appear before her. She was even carrying a baby in those days, where she had lost it as a result of the rape.

And the consequences of war in this woman are enormous. She needs medical attention.

All she has experienced was her husband, who no longer lives. And because of problems with the district of the city, you can't even begin to publish them, there's care as he relates what he experienced.

In Kosovo there are reportedly about 20 thousand women, men, girls and young men who were victims of sexual violence during the last war. They are living with wounds, they have this challenge on their shoulders for two decades now.

By February 2018, since the Commission on the Status of the Victims of Sex Violence began working, over a thousand people have applied. But there are many who have failed to enjoy these contributions.

Neither has this commission escaped criticism. To this group, there are numerous complaints that they are slowing this process too slow.

His long expectations had made him very tired, with dozens of times even thinking of giving up and not accepting that status at all. After that time, however, she has gained the right to enjoy this trust.

At the Kosovar Centre for the rehabilitation of Torture Survivors, hundreds of victims are continuing to be addressed. And unfortunately, there are those who do not yet muster up the courage to look at an association to confess what happened to them. All because of prejudices that continue to take place in Kosovo society in this category.

Director of this centre Feride Rushiti says this commission for recognition of the status of victims is dragging the cases.

For this, the head of the Government Commission for Recognising the Status of Sex Violence Victims, Minire Begaj-Baley, says they are having pressure, while stressing that this process requires caution because of sensitivity.

She is vowing that more than once from the beginning they have been taking on a subject, which, according to her, has been treated by 40 of them a month.

However, it claims the number of applications has dropped compared to the first months.

Procrastination of processes in decision-making as a whole, according to the ombudsman, Hilmi Jashari is one of the key problems.

He says many complaints have been filed in the ombudsman institution about procrastinating cases of recognition of the status of victims of sexual violence.

The year 2019 is being remembered for the public appearance of the survivor of sexual violence, Shyhrete Sylejmani Tahiri, who publicly denounced the crime committed during the war, to the War Crimes Prosecutor.

Victims of sexual violence in addition to material compensation also need justice. So says Council for Protection of Human Freedoms and Rights Chairman Behgjet Shala.

The victim of sexual violence during the war, for years, is saying she felt abandoned by the state. As often as Serbs are mentioned, memories return to them as fresh as if they were happening now.

Despite the full deposit of the crime, no one has yet been convicted, and this survivor is a common voice of all those who experienced the crime of the time. The requirement for justice will remain a prayer before every sleep until it reaches its place.
