Quiet party: Authorities Had Less Work Than Past Years

The cases that have been here have been of various injuries with abdominal problems, with various problems, but with the injuries that have followed us in recent years more with pirotechnic and firearms in changing weathers or holidays this year has been the smallest number. Even Kosovo police have estimated that security in the country during the night of December 31st 2019 and January 1, 2020, has been calm.

Kosovo Police spokesman Baki Kelani says Kosovo citizens have celebrated the arrival of 2020 more calmly than the past years.

According to him, during the change of weather, no cases of fatal consequences have been recorded by Kosovo police, and that they have largely been slight bodily injuries as a result of the inadequate use of pyrotechnic means, fire incidents, illegal weapons and property damage.

“Vlerated by the security aspect we like the Kosovo Police appreciate that this weekend or New Year's holiday has gone more smoothly than other years, fortunately no case has been recorded that passed with fatal consequences whether in terms of security or in terms of road traffic. Mainly recorded are cases of minor injuries or injuries of various natures from the inadequate use of pyrotechnic means, cases of fire and property damage, or even some cases of general causing. But from the aspect of the number of cases, we can say we have smaller numbers of cases than other years”, Kelani said.

As a most special case, he mentioned the arrest of a person in the Vushtrri region under suspicion that he fired a firearm, a weapon that was later confiscated.

We can say that there are cases that have been recorded in the Family Medicine Center, but even at QKUK, who have sought help either when they suffered injuries from the pyrotechnics but also any case assigned to the blind or air bullets that may have occurred. It is important to highlight a case in the Vushtrri region, where Kosovo police have encountered a person who has used firearms at the New Year's celebration, and police have interviewed and managed to arrest the suspected person and seize the weapon that has been used”, he stressed.

In Kosovo we remember that, according to the Kosovo Customs data within 2019, about 100,000 kilograms of pyrotechnics, mainly from China, were imported.
