Despite the distribution of about 12,000 anti-Verral flu vaccines, demand remains high for vaccine.
Their delivery has been completed since December 20th, but citizens are still attending the Family Medicine Centres to be equipped with vaccines.
But the chief of the Vaccination Unit at the main Family Medicine Centre in Pristina, Nexmedin Hoti, tells Online Economy that providing vaccines against seasonal flu has been completed since December 20th.
According to him, many patients have lost their vaccine because of their neglect.
“Interested patients and those with indicators for taking flu vaccines, vaccines have taken it, there are patients who have not yet received flu vaccines because of their neglect, or for what reason I don't know if they're late they haven't had a chance after the vaccine that flu vaccines were done. So there's a minority of people who come around from time to time wondering if there are any flu vaccines left. But flu vaccines in Pristina are not left and do not. I'm thinking Pristina QKMF. Because all the vaccines dedicated to us have applied to those who needed to take this”, he stressed.
Furthermore, Hoti says they will no longer apply to IKSHP for the vaccine supply.
And we've done our vaccines that Pristina's municipality has done with vaccines, we don't make any more demands, because we've planned them for this vaccine dose in advance, but if these other municipalities haven't done or given them I don't know. The vaccines are seasonal, are neither reserved, nor expected to be added. They can be given by May, but the vaccines for protection from the flu should be given in the season at the appointed time when it is the optimum time”, he said.
And of all the citizens left without taking this vaccine, they can find it in a drug store even though their amount is very small. A pharmacist told EO that the price of a vaccine against seasonal flu costs 12.50 euros.
We against the seasonal flu in Pristina, we had 10,000 doses of IKSHP. We after taking 10,000 doses have also received an amount that the Institute of 750 doses has had, so the Pristina Community has had 11,750 doses available that we have received and applied until December 20th. Since December 20th we have no flu vaccines on”, she indicated.
While, from the Health Ministry, they say any citizen who wants to be vaccinated must contact the responsible persons in the vaccine units.
Any citizen who is interested in vaccinated and who is part of these groups should contact the responsible persons in the vaccine units and if they lack vaccines that may be spent and contact I KSHP, which can provide other doses of vaccines, because in the past few days the MSh has called on the vaccine units from primary health care so that where vaccines have exceeded, they inform him of I KSHP and the same to be used in a municipality where there are more needs”, Hoti said.
According to Hoti, there are still vaccines, since the state is obliged to retain reserves.
Kosovo's National Public Health Institute has consistently called for citizens to be vaccinated against seasonal flu.
