Ukraine's plane, which crashed in Iran on Wednesday, with 176 people on board, has made efforts to return to the airport, Iranian investigators said.
Boeing 737-800 collapsed just minutes after leaving Tehran airport, leaving no survivors.
Initial investigations revealed that the plane had a problem as it was leaving the airport area and that it was involved in flames.
“Aeroplane, which originally headed west, changed direction due to a problem. He has been returning to the airport at the moment he fell”, said Iran's Civil Aviation Organisation chief Ali Abednego.
Earlier, Iran said it would not hand over the black box with data from flight to Boeing or the United States.
With global aviation regulations, Iran has the right to conduct investigations, but production companies are often involved.
The plane crash took place just hours after Iran carried out missile attacks on two US bases in Iraq.
However, there is no evidence that the two events are related.
The Washington-Tehran tensions have reached a peak since the US has allegedly killed a senior Iranian military commander on January 3rd.
