The murder of Nazmi Rrustaj, former forest inspector in Pristina who was told he was also a Special Witness, has triggered reactions in Serbia as well.
Serbian MP from the Progressive Party, once named security specialist Zoorgan Dragisic, has called on special witnesses living in Kosovo to leave the country.
According to him, the killing of Rrustaj is a clear message to anyone who will in the future witness at The Hague.
All witnesses who have testified against Haradinaj in the past have been killed. Even killing Nazim was a clear message for anyone who would testify to people who committed war crimes. After that, it is very difficult for the Special Court to declare the guilt of indictees”, he has said of “Kosovo-Online”.
That Rrustemaj was a Special Witness yet to be confirmed.
However, from the specialised Prosecution Institute in The Hague, they have said that the case is now in the hands of the Kosovo Prosecutor, unwilling to comment on whether the victim was a witness or not.
